From the plaque:
Starting from the image of an olden days posteard partly reproduced here, the mural tells the story of that card's journey over time, carrying news from a worker who wrote to his family about the difficult conditions of his everyday life.
The history of rue Eddy (Formerly du Pont) is directly linked to the Eddy plants, the log drive, etc. Telephone poles were chosen as a reminder of that everyday life. They also serve to unity the mural and provide perspective whether approached from the north or south.
The buildings vanishing line reaches for the maximum, ending at the parlor. This provides direction as everything crumbles. The street furniture follows the same theme, but with other postcard pieces. The colours used, different shades of sepia, serve as a reminder of not only the original picture, but also of the colours of the surrounding buildings, the washed out yellow of the Chez Ti-Coune market, etc.
