A community-driven digital archive for the street art of Ottawa and Gatineau. Learn more about us below.
OTTAWALLS started in 2025 as a personal mission on two wheels. While biking through Ottawa, I began collecting photos and coordinates of the murals I passed. What started as a simple hobby quickly transformed into a realization: Ottawa and Gatineau's urban art lacked a permanent, public record.
Today, we are a volunteer-run, non-commercial and community initiative dedicated to documenting every mural in Ottawa and Gatineau. This is a free, open-access resource designed to give local artists the credit they deserve and to help everyone discover the gallery hidden in our city streets.
As a non-commercial, volunteer-run effort, the purpose of OTTAWALLS is to document and celebrate our city's street art before it fades. We keep a growing record of these pieces to ensure artists receive proper credit, turning temporary works into a valuable resource to help the city support more public art. See a wall that deserves to be in the archive? Submit it! This is your city too.
To be the go-to authority on street art in Ottawa, and to facilitate the collaboration of artists, community members, and officials to make Ottawa a city that celebrates its street artists by commissioning new work and acknowledging the importance of street art to community identity.
We catalog every mural with high-resolution photos, GPS locations, artist credits, and detailed metadata.
We ensure every artist is properly credited, with links to their profiles and portfolios.
Our interactive map makes it easy to explore street art by neighborhood, artist, or style.
We archive murals before they disappear, creating a permanent record of Ottawa's urban art.
OTTAWALLS is built by the community. Here's how you can help:
Access the raw map data, help identify "Unknown Artists," and get notified of new walls before the paint is dry.
