Ethics & Artist Rights

OTTAWALLS exists to document and celebrate Ottawa's urban art.

Our Purpose

We archive the evolution of street art as culture, not as evidence. Our goal is to uplift artists, preserve creativity, and make public art more visible, not policed.

1. Artist Consent

Your work is on OTTAWALLS and the credit is wrong? Want to add context or claim the wall? Write us at hello@ottawalls.art. We document public art, but you keep the voice on your story.

2. Legal and Ethical Boundaries

OTTAWALLS focuses on murals and publicly accessible art. We do not map illegal graffiti in ways that could endanger artists.

3. Respect for Ephemeral Art

Street art is meant to live and fade. We honor that cycle by timestamping pieces and updating the archive when walls change.

4. Community and Collaboration

Contributions from artists, archivists, photographers, and locals are welcome. We are open to partnerships with festivals, galleries, and collectives that share our goal of creative visibility and respect.

This site grows with the community. If you see a mistake or missing credit, email hello@ottawalls.art.

5. The Artist Owns the Wall

We are archivists, not owners. The art is the creator's property. We simply document public works for a non-commercial record, fighting the fade and giving credit where it is due. We claim zero rights to the work itself.

This site grows with the community. If you see an error or an omission, please send us a message at hello@ottawalls.art.
