Avec amor

Mique's piece created for the Ottawa Urban Art Collective Disrupt event in 2023.

Executed in stark white on a black wall, this large scale Double Crested Cormorant holds prominence. Mique explicitly connected the bird's reputation to the urban arts and hip hop scene, highlighting a need for acceptance.

The work is documented with the context of Bill 205, Ontario legislation concerning the hunting and trapping of the cormorant. Mique noted the issue was still relevant at the time of creation. The text, "Avec amor..." (With love), accompanies the image.
