Kina Forney is a multidisciplinary artist deeply passionate about the creative community in Ottawa. Based in her home studio, she works primarily in acrylic and oil painting. Kina earned her BFA in Painting and Drawing, with a specialization in computation arts, from Concordia University in 2009. An active community organizer, she co-founded the artist collective Artawa in 2016 and has been involved with Art Battle in Ottawa since 2016. Since 2021, Kina has taught painting and drawing to all ages at the Ottawa School of Arts in Orleans. Her teaching practice focuses on the "messy magic" of artistic expression, encouraging students to develop foundational skills alongside experimentation to unlock their inner voice. Her broader artistic practice centers on personal and community play, serving as a reminder of the inherent value and bravery found in doing what you love. She lives in Orleans with her partner and two teenagers. Kina also teaches at Modo Yoga in Orleans, practices aerial silks, rock climbing, and generally enjoys anything that results in being upside-down.
